My High Elf Army

This is my Warhammer Fantasy High Elf army, it is a little more than 2000 points and there are 83 painted miniatures. I have other miniatures that are in process of been painted like 5 Dragon Princes of Caledor, 6 or 7 Silver Helms or a Tiranoc Chariot, but I don't usually use them in my games. I have to say that in my group we still play with the 7th edition rulebook, which explains the organization of the units. (Pics get bigger by clicking on them)

As you can see the color scheme that I used in the army is not a common one. There are a few conversions in the army because when I started it I preferred to spend time "improving" plastic miniatures than money buying metallic ones.

Lords and Heroes

Kolingar, High Elf Prince of Caledor (conversion).

High Elf Mage (1), the only metallic miniature in the army.

High Elf Mage (2) (30 minutes conversion using different plastic bits).

Mounted Noble Battle Standard Bearer (conversion with plastic bits).

Core Units

High Elf Archers.

High Elf Spearmen (1). The decals of the shields are from the Bretonnian men-at-arms.

High Elf Spearmen (2).

Special Units

High Elf Dragon Princes of Caledor. This unit is a conversion based in the Silver Helms models, when I made it, the plastic Dragon Princes of Caledor didn't exist. I think that the plastic Dragon Princes are amazing miniatures and if I have had the possibility of buying them while I was making my army I would have done it.

High Elf Lion Chariot of Crace.

High Elf Phoenix Guard. This unit is a conversion based on the spearmen and using the tip of The Empire Free Company's Halberds.

Rare Units

High Elf Repeater Bolt Thrower (1)

High Elf Repeater Bolt Thrower (2)

High Elf Repeater Bolt Thrower (3)

High Elf "Great Eagle". This is the little dragon that I've made.

  1. An army to be proud of ! At first I thought you had some nice old metal phoenix guard. And then I took a closer look and realized you had converted them to such lengths ! Its a great army, with a lot of imagination and little tips and sculpture job which make it more unique.

    1. Thank you. The most important tip is patience and now that I know of products like oyumaru/Instant Mold I strongly recommend to use them to save time for repetitive tasks like sculpting one good cape and copy it instead of making every single one. That can also be applied to the helmet wings. I made the helmet wings in two phases, one with a really thing layer of GS with the basic shape and then another to give volume and add some details like the feathers, do that in one, two or maybe three models is ok, do it in 19 and is quite boring...

If you have any trouble or you want any specific tip please ask, I'll try to help you to the best of my capacities =D
